ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The Orlando Magic might have just found their answer to their recent point guard woes in Jase Richardson, son of former Magic player Jason Richardson, as Jase was drafted with the 25th pick in the 2025 NBA draft.

Richardson the elder played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association, and spent 2010 to 2012 with the Magic. He also played for the Charlotte Bobcats, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Jase Richardson followed in his father’s footsteps by attending Michigan State University, where he, like his dad, played under legendary head coach Tom Izzo.

To start the season, the playing time for incoming freshman Jase Richardson was limited, with experienced vets absorbing the majority of the playing time. Richardson knew he had to make the most of his minutes.

After his stellar 29-point performance against Oregon on February 8 of this past season, Richardson would see no less than 30 minutes of playing time a game.

The stats show that the more playing time he got, the better the production was, and for an Orlando Magic team that has been honestly terrible with three-point shooting, this is a welcome development. The Magic addressed their shooting issues a little this offseason by trading for rising star Desmond Bane.

Orlando’s second-round pick was traded with Boston to move up to the 32nd pick, where they selected French forward Noah Penda. Penda has been playing professionally for the Le Mans Sarthe Basketball club.

His size allows him to defend multiple positions, and his game can help spread the floor. Penda averaged 12 points per contest for France in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket Tournament. He has shown potential to be an excellent basketball player, with his game being compared to that of fellow Frenchman Nicolas Batum.
