BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL SPACE FORCE STATION, FLORIDA — SpaceX kicked off Thursday morning with another successful mission from Florida’s Space Coast, launching 28 Starlink internet satellites aboard a Falcon 9 rocket — the company’s 130th flight of the year.

The two-stage Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 5:57 a.m. EDT, lighting up the pre-dawn sky as it soared toward low Earth orbit.

Just over eight minutes after liftoff, the rocket’s first-stage booster, identified as B1095, executed a precise landing on the autonomous drone ship Just Read the Instructions stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The recovery marked the third flight and landing for this particular booster, which previously supported two other Starlink missions.

Meanwhile, the rocket’s upper stage continued its journey, carrying the batch of 28 satellites to their designated orbit. SpaceX confirmed that deployment was scheduled to occur approximately 64 minutes after launch.

Thursday’s mission underscored SpaceX’s extraordinary pace in 2025. With 130 Falcon 9 launches completed, the company is on the verge of surpassing last year’s record of 132 missions — a benchmark set in 2024.

More than 70 percent of this year’s flights have supported the Starlink network, SpaceX’s ambitious satellite constellation designed to deliver high-speed internet across the globe.

The growing constellation now includes nearly 8,600 operational satellites, making Starlink by far the world’s largest satellite network.

In addition to Falcon 9 operations, SpaceX has also conducted five Starship test flights this year, part of the company’s long-term goal to develop a fully reusable spacecraft capable of carrying humans to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The most recent Starship test, launched earlier this week, was declared a complete success.

With only a few months remaining in the year, SpaceX shows no signs of slowing down — and could soon break its own launch record as it continues expanding access to space and global broadband connectivity.
