BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It was a frightfully fun afternoon on Saturday as Crosswinds Youth Services hosted its 27th Annual Great Brevard Duck Race, a Halloween-themed tradition that brought laughter, excitement, and community spirit to the Space Coast.
Thousands of rubber ducks—decked out in their Halloween best—raced to the finish line during the live-streamed event on Space Coast Daily hosted by Orville Susong, competing for an array of prizes including a Carnival Cruise getaway, DJ services, a spa experience, and a Paint & Conversation party for six.
While the race provided plenty of “quack-scary” fun, its mission carried heartfelt purpose. Each adopted duck represented a $10 donation to Crosswinds Youth Services, directly supporting programs that provide emergency shelter, hot meals, counseling, and essential care to children and teens in crisis across Brevard County.
“Every duck adopted helps a young person in our community find safety, stability, and hope,” said Karen Locke of Crosswinds Youth Services. “We’re so grateful for the outpouring of support this year.”
The Duck Race is one of Crosswinds’ most important fundraisers, helping sustain more than 50 years of service to Brevard’s most vulnerable youth. Winners from Saturday’s event were selected at random and announced following the race.
The beloved community event once again showcased Brevard’s generosity, thanks to the continued support of sponsors including Space Coast Daily, Victory Casino Cruises and many others.
