BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA — Get ready for a next level experience when an exceptionally talented string quartet from the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents Romantic Reflections at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106 N. Riverside Drive in Indialantic.

There’s nothing quite so elegant, and as intimate, as the music of a string quartet. Some of the world’s most beautiful music has been written for two violins, a viola and a cello. But it’s the quality of the performers that can take the experience from nice to “next level.”

Carey Moorman, Space Coast Symphony Orchestra concertmaster and first violinist, will be joined by Joni Roos on violin, Michael de Jesus on viola and David Calhoun on cello. The foursome will present works by two giants of the early Romantic era, Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 4 in E minor and Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 15 in G major.

Mendelssohn’s 1837 work, dedicated to the Crown Prince of Sweden, exhibits the composer’s clear originality of style and emergence from the influence of Beethoven. Written in 1826, Schubert’s last quartet was published after his death and moves into new musical territory, described as “hauntingly transcendent.”
