About Brevard Humane Society

As a leading animal welfare organization, the Brevard Humane Society promotes responsible pet ownership and provides spay and neuter programs and services to support the health and well-being of animals across the county. Since 1952, the organization has been helping Brevard County’s homeless animals find comfort, care, and love while they await their forever homes.

With a steadfast adoption guarantee, no animal admitted to the facility will ever be euthanized due to time, space, or treatable medical conditions. Until adoption, each animal receives shelter, food, veterinary care, and affection from a compassionate team of staff and volunteers.

The Brevard Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported solely by its programs, services, donations, private grants, and fundraising events. Through community outreach and education, the organization inspires responsible pet ownership and promotes kindness and respect toward all animals.

What began as a small volunteer-led shelter has grown into one of Brevard County’s largest and most respected animal welfare organizations. Guided by a vision to end animal homelessness and needless suffering, the Brevard Humane Society provides care for as long as needed—there are no time limits, and no animal is ever euthanized to make space.

As the oldest animal welfare organization in Brevard County, the Brevard Humane Society continues to lead by example, transforming how rescue organizations care for animals and connect with their communities. To combat pet overpopulation, the organization operates a low-cost Spay and Neuter Clinic offering affordable sterilization, vaccinations, wellness checks, and other essential veterinary services.
In addition, the Heavenly Paws Chapel provides compassionate end-of-life services, ensuring families and their beloved pets receive support and comfort through every stage of life.

To help sustain its mission, the Brevard Humane Society operates four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, which generate vital funding for the organization’s programs and community initiatives.

At its heart, the Brevard Humane Society is about more than rescue it’s about creating lifelong bonds between people and pets. With two adoption facilities located at 1020 Cox Road in Cocoa and 155 Pioneer Road in Merritt Island, countless loving, spayed, neutered, and vaccinated animals are waiting for their furever families.
