BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Division of Emergency Management is warning residents about the severe dangers of driving through flooded roads.

Officials emphasize that even a small amount of water can create life-threatening conditions, reminding drivers to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

Floodwaters can hide deep potholes, debris, and downed power lines, making travel hazardous.

The agency reports that vehicles can begin to float in as little as one foot of water, often leading to loss of control, drowning, or drivers becoming trapped inside their vehicles.

Attempting to drive through flood zones can also result in permanent vehicle damage, expensive repairs, and loss of property.

Residents are urged to stay alert, follow road closure warnings, and never underestimate the force of moving water.
