POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Merritt Island Mustangs’ incredible volleyball season ended just short of a championship Saturday, falling in a five-set thriller in the Class 4A State Final to North Broward Prep (Coconut Creek).

The Mustangs battled hard but came up short, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18, 10-25, 10-15.

Merritt Island fell in the first set, but battled back to win the next two sets. Their opponent responded in the next two sets, capitalizing on Mustang error.

The final set was tight, but North Broward Prep closed strong to claim the title 15-10 in the final set.

Despite the loss, Merritt Island’s season was one to remember. Under head coach Angie Patrick, the Mustangs captured district and regional championships and earned a spot among the best in Florida with a overall record of 29-3.

POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Merritt Island High School Lady Mustangs are heading to the Class 4A State Championship after defeating South Walton 3-1 on Friday at Polk State College, and are now on a 23-game winning streak!

Set scores were 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, and 25-20, as the Mustangs showed poise and resilience to close out the match and secure their spot in the Class 4A title game.

With the victory, Merritt Island continues its remarkable postseason run, adding another milestone to a season that already includes Cape Coast Conference, District, and Regional championships.

The Mustangs will now face either North Broward Prep or Lemon Bay in the State Championship on Saturday at 4 p.m., again at Polk State College.

The Mustangs’ dominant season continues a long tradition of excellence under head coach Angie Patrick, who earlier this year celebrated her 500th career win — a milestone more than two decades in the making.

Patrick, who has led Merritt Island’s volleyball program for 23 seasons, has built one of Florida’s most respected dynasties. Under her leadership, the Mustangs have compiled a 500–133 record, captured 17 Cape Coast Conference championships, 20 consecutive district titles, and made eight Final Four appearances, including state championships in 2011 and 2018 and three runner-up finishes in 2012, 2014, and 2021.

Patrick’s influence extends well beyond the court. A 2014 inductee into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame, she’s known for mentoring generations of student-athletes, emphasizing teamwork, character, and resilience.

“Our volleyball program is unlike any other,” Patrick said. “We are a family bonded together by our love for the sport. Merritt Island Volleyball has many accomplishments because of hard work, dedication, respect, and love for the game.”

A historic milestone was reached this season as Coach Angie Patrick notched her 500th win as the head coach of the Merritt Island High School (MIHS) volleyball program. (MIHS Image)

The Mustangs’ current success — reflected in their 22 straight victories — is a testament to that culture. Patrick said the team’s collective mindset has been central to this year’s run.

“This group comes to compete every single day,” she said. “They’ve stayed focused on improving, trusting one another, and keeping a winning attitude no matter the situation.”

Patrick’s story is one of passion and perseverance. Originally from Wisconsin, she traded basketball for volleyball, leading her high school to a state championship before playing collegiately at Florida Tech, where she earned recognition as Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Now a marine science and biology teacher at Merritt Island High, Patrick balances her academic and coaching roles — inspiring students both in the classroom and on the court.

As the Mustangs prepare to take the floor in Winter Haven, they carry not only a winning streak but also the weight of a proud legacy built over more than two decades.

For Patrick, another state title would be yet another chapter in a remarkable career that has shaped the face of Merritt Island volleyball and the now multi-generational young women she has inspired.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – All eyes in Brevard County will be on Mustang Stadium Tuesday night as the Eau Gallie Commodores (6-3) roll into Merritt Island to take on the Merritt Island Mustangs (6-3) for the District Title in a special edition of Space Coast Daily Game of the Week.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with special live coverage on Space Coast Daily TV.

The game is a makeup game for a prior matchup this season that was rescheduled due to inclement weather on October 10.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

This marquee matchup features two of the most talented and tradition-rich programs on the Space Coast, each with playoff ambitions and something to prove as the regular season ends.

The Commodores are coming off a tough 48-18 loss to Atlantic.

Eau Gallie senior Xavier Lherisse was voted the District 12 Most Valuable Player,  highlighting a season full of standout performances. Lherisse’s Commodores will visit Merritt Island on Tuesday for the district championship. You can watch all the action live on Space Coast Daily TV.

Leading the way is Oregon commit Xavier Lherisse, one of the most explosive backs in the state. Lherisse has racked up 794 yards on 90 carries with 10 touchdowns, and he’ll be the focal point of Eau Gallie’s offensive attack.

The Commodores bring a physical brand of football and a defense that has smothered opponents all season.

The Mustangs enter at 6-3 and are led by a high-flying passing game. Quarterback Kevin Verpaele has been sharp all season, throwing for 1,909 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.

His top target is Donterrius Robinson Jr., who leads the team with 33 receptions for 513 yards and seven touchdowns. Merritt Island will look to use its aerial attack to stretch the field and keep Eau Gallie’s defense off balance.

Live play-by-play coverage of the game can be seen on Space Coast Daily TV.

MERRITT ISLAND AND EAU GALLIE TO CLASH IN district championship ON TUESDAY
The final week of the FHSAA high school football season saw a little bit of everything as it ended on a Thursday night. Annual rivalries ending in blowouts, a nail-biting game coming down to the last minute, upset victories, and the beginning of the SSAA playoffs.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The final week of the FHSAA high school football season saw a little bit of everything as it ended on a Thursday night.

Annual rivalries ending in blowouts, a nail-biting game coming down to the last minute, upset victories, and the beginning of the SSAA playoffs.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

Cocoa 36 – Rockledge 0 WATCH REPLAY:

After back-to-back victories, the Cocoa Tigers have found their stride at just the right time. Winning the last two over district opponents, Cocoa entered the annual BBQ bowl against Rockledge with a lot of momentum, and it sure carried into this one. Cocoa’s stifling defense and prolific offensive weapons shone in the 36-0 shutout victory over their rivals. They are now riding high, headed into the postseason.

Titusville 37 – Astronaut 3

The battle for the Hudson trophy has seen the Titusville Terriers claim it in the past three seasons, and that was not going to change last night. Astronaut started the game off hot with a successful drive down the field, putting up three points, but from that point on, it was all Titusville. Quarterback Bill Billingsley and the offense scored 37 unanswered points on their way to an enormous 34-point margin of victory.

Merritt Island 35 – Viera 14

Merritt Island came into this game off a tough loss from a week ago, and Viera came off a huge win over Melbourne. Merritt Island came out ready to play in this one, leading from the start and never looking back as they won convincingly. As this was Viera’s last game, Merritt Island will now prepare for its huge district championship matchup with Eau Gallie next Tuesday.

Heritage 30 – MCC 28

This one went back and forth the entire game, with several lead changes; both teams were desperate for the win. When it mattered most, senior Quarterback Jordan Pidala was able to make the winning plays necessary as the Heritage Panthers came out with the win. Although both teams did not have the seasons they would have liked, Heritage is ranked second in the district and will head to the playoffs.

Palm Beach Gardens 36 – Melbourne 22

Melbourne could not get the win a week ago, losing to Viera in a battle for second place in the district, and this week looked to have a very winnable game on their hands. Palm Beach Gardens had other ideas and pulled off an enormous upset over the Bulldogs in the season finale. Melbourne had a good season, but it did not finish the way they would have liked.

American Heritage (Delray) 35 – Bayside 7

Despite not having a great season, the Bayside Bears did make the playoffs in the SSAA division. Facing a top seed in American Heritage was not going to be easy by any stretch, and they were sent home early after being defeated. Bayside will now look towards the off-season and prepare for spring in a couple of months.

Space Coast 20 – Coral Springs 6

The Space Coast Vipers have once again put together a stellar regular season and head into the playoffs with ultra confidence. The road to repeat seems clear for the Vipers, and they got the job done in the first round of the playoffs. This one stayed close for the first three quarters before the Vipers pulled away in the fourth. Alex Banachoski had a big game with an offensive and defensive touchdown in this one.

Satellite 28 – LaBelle 15

Satellite nearly went undefeated in their first year under legendary head coach Dan Burke, but they dive into the postseason with confidence, ready to make a statement. LaBelle came in as no slouch either, with a perfect record, but it was the Scorpions who controlled the game from the second quarter on, winning this one by two touchdowns.

Matanzas 41 – Palm Bay 14

Palm Bay has not had a memorable season by any means, but one thing they can say is that they did not have another winless season. Now, under head coach Kevin Mays, he is looking to revamp his alma mater back to its glory days, but that is not something that can happen overnight. The uphill climb is steep, but with the staff and coaching pedigree from Mays, he is destined to bring the Pirates back to glory.

Space Coast Daily-Friday Night Locker Room Week 11 High School Football Rankings

Brevard County’s week 10 of the high school football season featured both in-county and out-of-county matchups. Some top teams fell on the road and other top teams saw big wins, playoff seeding is taking shape as we enter the last week of the regular season.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County’s week 10 of the high school football season saw some in-county matchups and also some out-of-county matchups. Some top teams fell on the road and other top teams saw big wins, playoff seeding is taking shape as we enter the last week of the regular season.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

No. 1 – Eau Gallie Commodores (6-3)

Eau Gallie has gone through a gauntlet of a season without their starting quarterback, but yet have put together a strong season. This past Friday saw one of the Commodores toughest test as they went down south to Atlantic High School. Atlantic came into the game undefeated and left the game undefeated beating Eau Gallie 48-18, the Commodores will now have a full week to prepare for the rescheduled showdown against Merritt Island.

No. 2 – Cocoa Tigers (4-4)

The Tigers were sitting at 2-4 with their district title streak at hand, but dominated the Villages 27-6 which saw the offense find the groove they have been looking for all season. Last Friday they saw another district game against Astronaut and the momentum continued, winning 38-3 and winning another district championship out right. Cocoa will have two games within the next week as they face their arch rivals Rockledge and the reschedule contest against Apopka.

No. 3 – Merritt Island Mustangs (5-3)

Merritt Island has been solid all year long and their three losses on the season only come by a combined 19 points. Week 10 they saw a very challenging game as they went west to face Carrollwood Day, the Patriots came in undefeated and remain undefeated winning 24-14. Merritt Island has two games within a week as they will face Viera on Thursday and Eau Galllie on the following Tuesday, the Eau Gallie game being the district championship.

No. 4 – Titusville Terriers (4-5)

Despite some of the narrow losses the Terriers have improved week by week and are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. A three point loss to Merritt Island was not the outcome they wanted, but they followed it up with a huge shutout victory over Palm Bay 42-0. Now the Terriers will battle for “the Ville” in their annual rivalry against Astronaut, both teams are needing the win as playoff hopes are still in sight.

No. 5 – Viera Hawks (6-3)

Viera has put together an impressive season and now sit at the no. 2 spot in the district after beating Melbourne on Friday. The Bulldogs came into the bout with loads of confidence and the Hawks seemed to be in complete control defeating Melbourne 24-7. The win gives them their sixth win which is a two win improvement from a year ago. The Hawks will now finish their season hosting Merritt Island on Thursday.

No. 6 – Melbourne Bulldogs (6-3)

The Bulldogs entered Friday night’s contest with a 6-2 record and trying to finish their season on a. high note and secure the second spot in the district. Viera had other plans and ultimately won the game 24-7, Melbourne will still have ahead of chance for an “at-large” bid to the playoffs as they finish their at home on Thursday with Palm Beach Gardens. Despite the loss the Bulldogs have a lot to look forward to within the program.

No. 7 – Holy Trinity Tigers (7-2)

Holy Trinity has continued their winning ways and now surpassed their win total from a year ago. Defeating Master’s Academy on Friday 28-7 the Tigers will now wait and see the matchup they are given for the upcoming playoffs. The journey to a state championship will begin in a few weeks and the Tigers more than anything would love to redeem themselves from a year ago.

No. 8 – Rockledege Raiders (3-6)

Rockledge has improved each week despite the loss to New Smyrna Beach 31-21. The Raiders are looking to finish their season on a high note this Thursday in the annual BBQ bowl against their rivals in Cocoa. While the playoffs seem unlikely for Rockledge this season, the team is filled with a lot of youth and the future is bright going forward under head coach John Holmes.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The stage is set for one of Brevard County’s most anticipated matchups as the Rockledge Raiders (3-6) host the Cocoa Tigers (4-4) in the annual BBQ Rivalry this Thursday night on Space Coast Daily TV.

Records and rankings tend to go out the window when these two neighbors meet — bragging rights, pride, and tradition are always on the line.

Cocoa enters Week 11 looking to bounce back from an up-and-down season and sharpen its edge before the postseason.

The Tigers’ offense is led by quarterback Champ Smith. Leading the backfield charge is running back Javeon Scott, whose speed and vision make him a threat to score every time he touches the ball. On the outside, wide receiver Tank White provides a dangerous target.

Rockledge, meanwhile, is determined to finish the regular season on a high note and spoil Cocoa’s momentum.

The Raiders are led by senior quarterback Robbie Blalock, who has developed strong chemistry with his offensive weapons throughout the season.

Running back Rahiem Cutter brings toughness and explosiveness to the ground game, while wide receiver Elijah Mitchell gives Rockledge a dynamic option in the passing attack with his ability to stretch the field.

Both teams feature aggressive defenses and plenty of playmakers on both sides of the ball, setting the stage for another hard-fought chapter in this long-standing rivalry.

With a passionate home crowd expected at McLarty Stadium, the intensity and emotion of the BBQ Rivalry promise to deliver another memorable night of high school football.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Thursday in Rockledge.

Rivalry Week in Brevard County

Friday Night Locker Room’s Terry Spain and Zane Garcia will be on the call from Al Werneke Field as the Titusville Terriers host the Astronaut War Eagles. The game will be live on the Space Coast Daily Facebook and Youtube pages shortly before the 7 p.m. kickoff.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA –  Friday Night Locker Room’s Terry Spain and Zane Garcia will be on the call from Al Werneke Field as the Titusville Terriers host the Astronaut War Eagles in the 54th annual Battle for the Hudson Trophy.

The game will be live on the Space Coast Daily Facebook and Youtube pages shortly before the 7 p.m. kickoff.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

Season thus far:

Astronaut went 5-2 through their first seven games and looked to be trending towards improving their record again after they won 6 games a year ago. However, back to back losses against their district foes in The Villages and Cocoa have put them at 5-4 coming down to their annual rivalry “for the Ville” against Titusville to match that 6-4 record from a season ago.

Titusville’s season has been back and forth narrow losses, good wins and bad losses. However in their first season under Matt Diesel the team has competed at a high level and have a chance to finish off their season on a high note beating their rivals. Close losses to Eau Gallie and Merritt Island took the Terriers out of the district title conversation, but the team still has a lot to build on.

Matchup in recent history:

In the last ten meetings between the two, Astronaut has won six of the ten matchups. Despite that, Titusville has won the last three meetings and by a margin of 103-6, Titusville has dominated over the past several years and Astronaut is hoping to change that this season.

Both teams have played some familiar teams this season being, Holy Trinity, Viera and Palm Bay. Titusville defeated all three teams and Astronaut’s only win against the three was a win over Palm Bay, it will be interesting to see what team shows up tomorrow night.

Keys to Victory:

Astronaut War Eagles

  • Protect the ball – Astronaut needs to limit the turnovers in this one to give themselves a shot to win.
  • Defense needs to set the tone early – Both sides are going to be amped up for this, if the defense can make some early stops that will go a long way in making this a four quarter game.
  • Playmakers make plays – It takes all 11 guys to do their job to be successful, but the playmakers have to capitalize when they have the opportunity.

Titusville Terriers

  • Control the controllable – Easier said than done, but the Terriers need to take what the defense gives them, no need to play hero ball throughout the game.
  • Get after the quarterback – Pressuring the quarterback leads to mistakes and that will be crucial for Titusville’s defense.
  • Get Tank Harvey going – Elijah “Tank” Harvey is undoubtedly one of the best players in the county and the state and if you can get him the ball he will make plays.
Brevard County’s week 10 of the high school football season saw some in-county matchups and also some out-of-county matchups as well. Some top teams fell on the road and other top teams saw big wins, playoff seeding is taking shape as we enter the last week of the regular season.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Rivalry energy will be in full force Friday night as the Viera Hawks (5-3) welcome the Melbourne Bulldogs (6-2) for a pivotal late-season matchup under the lights.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Both teams enter the contest riding momentum from dominant wins. Viera rolled past Seabreeze 41-14 last week, showcasing a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive effort.

The Hawks have steadily improved as the season has progressed, finding rhythm on both sides of the ball at the right time.

Melbourne, meanwhile, is coming off an equally convincing 49-7 victory over East River. The Bulldogs’ offense has been explosive all year, fueled by a fast-paced attack and a defense that has made it tough for opponents to sustain drives.

Friday’s matchup not only carries county bragging rights but also postseason implications as both teams aim to solidify playoff positioning.

Both squads will be looking to make a statement as the regular season winds down and the road to the playoffs begins to take shape.

Friday night’s matchup between the Rockledge Raiders and the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas promises to be an intriguing clash of momentum and familiarity as the 3-5 Raiders look to build on last week’s 41-24 victory over Pine Ridge.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Friday night’s matchup between the Rockledge Raiders and the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas promises to be an intriguing clash of momentum and familiarity as the 3-5 Raiders look to build on last week’s 41-24 victory over Pine Ridge.

Rockledge, led by head coach John Holmes, faces a tall test against a New Smyrna Beach (6-2) squad that has won six of their last seven games.

Adding an extra layer to this matchup is the presence of a familiar face on the opposing sideline.

The Barracudas are coached by former Cocoa High legend and Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer John Wilkinson, who spent years building a powerhouse program across Brevard County. His return to face Rockledge—one of Cocoa’s longtime rivals—adds a personal touch to an already competitive game.

For Rockledge, the key will be maintaining the offensive energy that powered last week’s win. Quarterback play and running consistency will be crucial as the Raiders aim to keep pace with the Barracudas’ explosive offense.

Defensively, Rockledge will need to find ways to contain New Smyrna Beach’s big-play potential and win the battle in the trenches.

With the regular season winding down, every game carries added weight for postseason positioning and momentum.

Expect an emotional, hard-fought matchup under the Friday night lights as Rockledge looks to defend its home field against a strong New Smyrna Beach team and a coach who knows the Space Coast football landscape better than most.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with play-by-play coverage on Space Coast Daily TV, presented by Erdman Automotive.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—As the season enters its last couple of weeks, the rankings have not moved much, as the top 6 have remained in place. The last few weeks will determine who makes the playoffs and what matchups they will see in the postseason.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

No. 1 – Eau Gallie Commodores (6-2)

Eau Gallie did not have much trouble this past Friday as they cruised past Palm Bay 56-6. Next week, they will face Atlantic (Delray ) and then have a week and a half off before finally facing Merritt Island. The Commodores’ offense was electric in the victory over the Pirates; Lherisse and Corbin led the way as usual. Eau Gallie and Merritt Island sit at the top of the district, and their matchup will set the seeding for the playoffs.

No. 2 – Merritt Island Mustangs (5-2)

Merritt Island’s win streak and district lead were nearly erased on Friday as they barely got by Titusville 31-28. It was an absolute barn burner of a game that saw multiple lead changes, but when it mattered most, the Mustangs came up huge, scoring a late touchdown to give them the win. Though they sit at 5-2, Merritt Island has three challenging games to finish their season against Carrollwood Day, Viera, and Eau Gallie.

No. 3 – Cocoa Tigers (3-4)

Cocoa came into this week against The Villages, having lost their last two games and needing to win this one to stay alive in their district. The Villages entered the contest with an 8-0 record and coming off a 35-0 defeat of Astronaut, coming in ultra confident, and a chance to take down the defending state champs. Cocoa led the entire way, winning 27-6, as they will be headed to the playoffs with the chance to win their fourth straight state title.

No. 4 – Melbourne Bulldogs (6-2)

IDLE: Melbourne had the week off, but will now prepare to face Viera in a big district matchup that will determine second place.

No. 5 – Titusville Terriers (3-5)

Titusville had a great opportunity to beat Merritt Island on Friday, and the game came down to the last possessions. Titusville has lost by a touchdown or less in every game this year, but one. With the last two games being very winnable, the Terriers will be hoping their playoff chances were not terminated this past week. They gave the Mustangs all they could handle and were just a few plays from winning this one.

No. 6 – Viera Hawks (5-3)

Other than the loss to Titusville, the Hawks’ only losses came by 8 and by 3. They are nearly undefeated this season and had a great performance on Friday, defeating Seabreeze 41-14. Viera will be locked in one matchup this coming Friday against Melbourne, as that will determine second place and who is guaranteed a playoff spot. Viera has started to find its stride and is hoping to end the season on a high note.

No. 7 – Holy Trinity Tigers (6-2)

Holy Trinity has put together a very solid season. They have one game remaining as they look to head into the postseason with momentum. They dominated last Friday, beating Oxbridge Academy 49-0. The Tigers have been consistent on offense and defense. The offense has scored more than 40 points five times this season, and the defense has pitched three shutouts this year.

No. 8 – Rockledge Raiders (3-5)

It took the Raiders some time to get going, but they have started to find their groove. They have one of the tougher schedules in the county, but after the win on Friday against Pine Ridge, they improved to 3-5 with New Smyrna and Cocoa left. The Raiders are still in the hunt for a playoff birth. In their first season under head coach John Holmes, they are willing to pull off the upset in a couple of weeks against their rivals, Cocoa.

Week 9 Football Action: Merritt Island Takes Titusville in Thriller, Cocoa Back in Win Column

District showdowns around the county highlighted the Week 9 Brevard County high school football slate. There were some blowouts and some nail-biters as there are every week, but these games were a little more critical than usual.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – District showdowns around the county highlighted the Week 9 Brevard County high school football slate. There were some blowouts and some nail-biters, as there are every week, but these games were a little more critical than usual.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

Merritt Island 31 – Titusville 28

This was a huge game with district title implications, and both teams showed up ready to play. The Mustangs and Terriers went back and forth all game long, but in the fourth quarter, Merritt Island came up with a touchdown to take the lead when they needed it. The win by Merritt Island ultimately solidified the Mustangs and Eau Gallie as the top two teams in the county.

Cocoa 27 – The Villages 6

Cocoa came into this game 2-4, needing to return to the winning side. Villages came to Cocoa undefeated and wanted to make a big statement. Cocoa controlled the game from start to finish, dominating on defense and finding its rhythm on offense. This win again crowns the Tigers, the district champions, and they will be headed to the playoffs.

MCC 37 – OCP 14

Melbourne Central Catholic was another team in dire need of a win. In an effort to keep their playoff hopes alive, they took down Orlando Christian Prep last night. The game was close for the first quarter and a half, but the Hustlers ran away in the second. MCC will look to string together a couple more wins before heading into the postseason.

Eau Gallie 56 – Palm Bay 6

Eau Gallie’s dynamic duo of Xavier Lherisse and X’Zavier Corbin led the way again for the Commodores in their dominant win over the Pirates. Eau Gallie has a date with Merritt Island in a few weeks, which will determine the seeding heading into the playoffs in about a month.

Space Coast 47 – Master’s Academy 14

Space Coast continued their stellar play on Friday, and the Vipers are in the hunt to repeat as State champions. Kadyn Thomas became the all-time leader in interceptions in Space Coast football history as the Vipers moved to 8-1. Space Coast will look to finish its season on a high note next week, taking on Stanton.

Viera 41 – Seabreeze 14

Viera has hit its stride and won comfortably over Seabreeze. The Hawks will now prepare for the Melbourne Bulldogs in a huge district matchup. The winner will take second place behind Osceola. The Hawks have had stellar play from quarterback Eric Nelson and the surrounding cast on offense.

Okeechobee 22 – Bayside 0

Bayside has not been able to find a consistent stride this season; they have been up and down and will slowly start to look towards the off-season. It was a tough loss for the Bears, but they do have some key pieces who are playmakers and will return next year for this squad.

Foundation Academy 37 – Cocoa Beach 34

This season has been tough for the Minutemen, with many growing pains as the team faced one of their most demanding schedules in recent history. Two losses of the seven came by one touchdown or less, which was a recurring theme from a season ago.

Mainland 33 – Heritage 6

Heritage has battled through one of the most challenging schedules across the county, and last night was another rough one.
