Gordon Cyphers, proud U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, lifelong friend, and father, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with dementia.
Over the course of his life, he found joy in music, especially playing the drums, and spent countless hours fishing, golfing, attending classic car shows, and shooting from his beloved gun collection.
His proudest career accomplishment was serving as an electrician at Cape Canaveral, where he contributed to the launch pads of the shuttle and rocket programs, work that connected him to history in the making.
Gordon cherished the many friendships he built, from his childhood in New Jersey to his late career years, and he never missed an opportunity to catch up, swap stories, or share a laugh. After retiring, his greatest companion was his beloved dog, who was by his side every day.
Those who knew Gordon will remember his generous spirit-he truly would give you the shirt off his back. He was happiest surrounded by music, friends, and family, and even in his final days, he sang songs from the ’60s–’80s, reminisced about Cape Canaveral and his youth, indulged in his favorite sweet treats, and filled the room with love and memory.
Gordon is survived by his two children, Jason and Kathryn, and his dear friend and former spouse, Christine.
He would want those who knew him to raise a glass, share stories, and celebrate the many moments that made his life unforgettable.
