BREVARD COUNTY • PORT ST. JOHN, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office reported that Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School was briefly placed on lockdown after a suspicious vehicle was found parked just outside the school gate on Thursday morning.
The measure was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.
According to officials, there is no indication that the individual associated with the vehicle entered school property.
Officials said deputies quickly responded to the scene and located Marvin Guth, 48, of Port St. John, who was taken into custody on unrelated charges involving failure to appear in court.
According to court records, Guth was trespassed from Enterprise Elementary School in March. In February, he threatened to “burn the school to the ground.”
Sheriff Wayne Ivey expressed appreciation for the swift actions of everyone involved.
He acknowledged the school staff, students, parents, school resource officers, and responding deputies for working together to manage the situation effectively and maintain safety on campus.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after the subject was taken into custody, and no injuries or threats to the school community were reported.
