BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Residents in a section of Melbourne were advised to take precautions with their water supply after service was temporarily shut off for repairs to a water main.
The affected properties include 1207 E. Melbourne Avenue, 2005 Front Street, and 1313 E. New Haven Avenue. Once water service is restored, customers in these areas are being asked to boil their water before use.
City officials stated that any water intended for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute to ensure safety. Bottled water may be used as an alternative during this time.
The precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until a required bacteriological survey confirms that the water is safe for consumption. Once testing is complete and the water is cleared, residents will receive a follow-up notification lifting the advisory.
Those with questions or concerns may contact the City of Melbourne Public Works and Utilities Administration office during business hours at 321-608-5000, or call the after-hours emergency line at 321-255-4622.
