BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I’ve talked before about the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, and here we have a great example of that with today’s “Felony Friday.”

In this case, however, I’m not sure if this guy is expecting to hit the “jackpot” on one of his heists, or maybe he’s just hoping to get away with it this time, but it seems like the results are still the same.

On August 31, our Deputies responded to a burglary where the window of a business had been shattered, and the cash register had been stolen. While on scene, they also learned of an attempted break-in just before this one, but the suspect was unsuccessful.

Agent Will Cleveland from our General Crimes Unit was called out to help with the investigation. From surveillance video, they saw a male with a tattoo on his face using a window punch to gain entry into the business. Once inside, he stole the cash register and made his escape.

The bad part for him is that our Agents were able to quickly identify him as Patrick King and subsequently got an arrest warrant signed for his arrest.

While that was awesome in itself, the fun doesn’t stop there. During their investigation, they discovered 13 other burglaries with the same MO as this one, and in several of them, King has been identified on video as the suspect.

Now, if that doesn’t top things off, I think his prior record does, as he has repeated convictions for…yep, you guessed it…burglary and theft.

SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: Honestly, folks, I’m not sure if the insane part is the repeated burglaries or him telling Agents that he told himself he wasn’t going back to prison…again! You know how the saying goes…don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time, especially if you are in Brevard County, because we have zero tolerance for crime.

Thanks to the great work of our Deputies and Agents, King is now one of the latest guests at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge, where he had “No Bond” reservations for two counts of Burglary, Grand Theft, two counts of Criminal Mischief, and two counts of Possession of Burglary Tools.

I want to thank Judge Henderson for signing this No Bond warrant and Agent Cleveland for his quick work to put King where he belongs, behind bars, before he could get behind the counter at another victim’s business!
