The Cocoa Police Department’s K-9 Unit has successfully completed the annual Florida Department of Law Enforcement state-mandated recertification, reaffirming its reputation for excellence and readiness.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa Police Department’s K-9 Unit has successfully completed the annual Florida Department of Law Enforcement state-mandated recertification, reaffirming its reputation for excellence and readiness.

Each handler and K-9 team demonstrated their capabilities through four rigorous phases of discipline: obedience, apprehension, area search, and building search.

K-9 Officer Brian Delos Santos with K-9 Kyra, K-9 Officer Dan Rhoades with K-9 Maverick, K-9 Officer Cierra Johnson with K-9 Draco, and K-9 Officer Mike Fitzgerald with K-9 Hasko each showcased the precision, control, and teamwork that reflect the hundreds of hours devoted to ongoing training and preparation.

Their performance highlighted the strong bond between handlers and their K-9 partners, as well as the high standards required to succeed in the recertification process.
