SHERIFF IVEY: Jose Murillo should get medal in 'Drunk Olympics'

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Well, here we go again, folks….the other night, while you were sleeping, this guy was too. Except while most of us were tucked safely in our beds, Jose Murillo was taking a little nap behind the wheel of his truck, parked in the middle of the road.
Sgt. Nicole Contos was thankfully driving on the Cocoa Beach Causeway and came upon Murillo’s vehicle partially in the right of way, and the other part of the truck was parked on the grass median.
As she approached the vehicle, she saw Murillo sleeping in the driver’s seat with the car still running. Once deputies were able to wake him, he started fumbling with the gear shift before realizing he needed to turn the car off.
As he exited the vehicle, he appeared unsteady on his feet and wasn’t too quick to answer questions about where he was.
Deputy Heather Matthews conducted the good old roadside Field Sobriety Exercises or “Drunk Olympics” as we like to call them, and let’s just say Murillo got a medal in the competition.

Deputy Matthews gave Murillo an opportunity to provide breath samples; however, he decided against doing that, and away he went to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge for DUI, on a $10,000 bond due to previous DUIs and being from out of state.
As always, I want to thank our Deputies for the amazing job they do at getting people like this off our streets and safely behind bars where they belong.
And Mr. Murillo…we hope your stay at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge was a miserable experience that makes you never want to come back….but if you do decide to once again break the law in Brevard County, you can bet your last dollar that we won’t hesitate to lock your butt up once again!
