Impaired Brevard Man Driving on Tire Shredded to Rim Arrested After Almost Striking Deputy

A search of the vehicle revealed a partially empty bottle of Jim Beam

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Don’t be suspicious…. don’t be suspicious! We’re pretty sure that’s what Ernest Pickett Jr. was thinking as he drove past multiple law enforcement officers with their flashing lights on while working a crash investigation on Aurora Road.
He might have avoided being pulled over if he hadn’t almost hit some of them while driving by. On top of that, he was missing just one little thing — a front tire!
At some point while driving, Pickett seems to have hit something, causing his entire tire to shred down to the rim.
Upon seeing and hearing his vehicle drive past the scene, Deputy Brenden Weber, along with some Melbourne Police Department Officers, attempted a traffic stop on the car, which then decided to make an illegal U-turn into a parking lot.

As Deputy Weber attempted to speak with Pickett, he refused to perform the Field Sobriety Exercises, as well as refused to provide a breath sample.
Based on all of the other “clues,” Pickett was ultimately placed under arrest. Then, when Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle, they located a bottle of Jim Beam on the passenger seat that was approximately one-quarter empty.
Clearly, some folks aren’t getting the message about driving under the influence, and I am not sure what it will take to get people to stop putting so many lives at risk for a dumb decision.
As much as I wish this were the last time, I’m sure I’ll say it again soon, if you get behind the wheel of a car and choose to drive impaired, we’re going to find you and drive you right to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge to sober up!
And trust me…once you sober up, you will soon realize how much you didn’t enjoy your stay at the lodge.
