This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for the principals of Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

MCC 20 – Titusville 21

Both teams were desperate for a win and it showed with how the Hustlers came out as in the first half they jumped out to a 14-0 lead over the Terriers. Titusville managed to score right before half time and then opened the second half with another touchdown, quickly knotting the game at 14.

After some back and forth defensive stands, the Hustlers put a touchdown on the board with less than 2 minutes left. However a botched snap prevented them from getting the extra point kickoff and it opened the door for Titusville to win in the last seconds. Tank Harvey’s third touchdown of the game came with just 22 seconds left in the game and the extra point would go through the uprights, lifting the Terriers to the win.

John Carroll 42 – Holy Trinity 24

Holy Trinity has had a successful season thus far, and entered the contest with a 4-1 record and just 6 points from being undefeated. John Carroll coming to town looked to be the hardest contest yet for the Tigers and it was. John Carroll nearly ran away with this one, but Holy Trinity kept fighting back and made it as close as game as they could. This is one of the games Holy Trinity needs, however as it will prepare them for playoffs football. John Carroll has built a reputation as one of the betters teams across the state and they showed it, credit to Holy Trinity for not letting the game get too far out of hand.

Mandarin 38 – Rockledge 10

Rockledge has won their last two games, but overall their schedule has been extremely difficult for first year Rockledge head coach, John Holmes. Mandarin came into this game with their only loss coming against national powerhouse IMG and they are currently one of the top teams in the state of Florida. Rockledge has a lot of youth and is getting better by the week, but these losses are valuable to a team that will be trying to make a playoff run in the near future. The last few games for the Raiders will be tough as well as they will travel to Vero Beach and Pine Ridge before hosting New Smyrna and Cocoa to finish the season.

Miami Norland 28 – Cocoa 6 : Called at half due to weather

Cocoa has been in sort of a rebuild season, as after three straight state championships they lost a lot of talent to college. Although the game was called at half, Norland was in control throughout. Cocoa will look to regroup as they host Apopka next week, in a game that the Tigers will look to turn their fortune in the right direction.

Viera 35 – Cocoa Beach 7

Viera has put together a strong season as they look to continue their winning ways before heading into the playoffs. Cocoa Beach has had their struggles this season and have not quite found their footing through 7 weeks. As there are still some games left on the schedule, both sides will be trying to finish the year strong.

Martin County 44 – Palm Bay 9

Palm Bay in their first year with Kevin Mays has not gone winless and that is the main positive they can take away from the season as they still are rebuilding the program. Martin County came into the game as a tough game for the Pirates and the loss stings, but the experience of playing better teams should help Palm Bay in the long run.

Eau Gallie 51 – Trinity Catholic 0

Eau Gallie simply dominated from the start, the Commodores are playing very stellar defense through the season and showed it again on Frida. Trinity Catholic normally has a good program and are competitive, but the Commodores traveled to Ocala and demolished them. Eau Gallie will have a huge district matchup next week against Merritt Island in a battle of top teams int he county.

Melbourne 49 – Winter Springs 20

Melbourne has continued their great play this season with another impressive victory over Winter Springs. Melbourne will look to keep winning and hold a top spot in the playoffs. The Bulldogs only losses have come against talented teams and they proved their worth a week ago nearly upsetting Osceola.

Space Coast 21 – Bayside 7

Space Coast has been impressive all season with the schedule they have played, and it continued as they comfortably defeated Bayside by two scores. Quarterback Azion Sandy has put together a really good season as he tries to lead the Vipers offense to another state title.

Satellite 48 – Somerset Academy 8

The train keeps rolling for the Scorpions as they move to 8-0 on the season in their first year under Dan Burke. The margin of victory has been quite the statement for Satellite as well, although they are not playing the highest of competition they have taken care of business and are not just two wins away from finishing the season undefeated and in the hunt for a SSAA state championship.

Astronaut 29 – Sebastian River 0

Astronaut defeated Bayside on their homecoming a week ago, and now competed on their own homecoming game beating Sebastian River. The win moves the War Eagles to 5-2 on the season as they look to once again improve their win total as they did a year ago.

8-MAN

Merritt Island Christian 64 – Legacy Charter 0

Merritt Island Christian has looked impressive this season and with just one loss they look to run the table again in hopes of winning their second state championship in the past three seasons. Currently ranked as the no. 3 team in the state amongst 8-man football, the Cougars have built a reputation of being one of the best in all of Florida.
