BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The West Melbourne campus of Pineapple Cove Classical Academy has undergone major expansions and enhancements to its award-winning charter school campus. It will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, September 30.

Opened in 2018, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, West Melbourne, was the second of three K-12 charter schools built by the Founder and President John Moran to answer the area’s demand for a classical education rich in character development and traditional classroom instruction.

New amenities coming to the campus include:

■ A two-story 24-classroom expansion facility that will add more space for learning, collaboration, and more students,
■ The addition of a new, larger cafeteria, a renovated band space, and an arts center with a kiln for ceramic crafts
■ 200+ additional parking spaces for students, faculty, and visitors to improve traffic flow
■ New athletic fields for track, Pioneer soccer & flag football with lights for nighttime games and a full rubber track and field with bleachers,
■ A state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center with 400 seats, a stage, theatrical lighting, and audiovisual capabilities

Construction will be completed by local general contractors Summit Construction Group and Platinum Roofing & Construction.

“The entire faculty and administration at Pineapple Cove Classical Academy West Melbourne are thrilled with the visionary changes coming to our beloved campus,” said Michelle Melian, Principal at Pineapple Cove Classical Academy West Melbourne.

“Our students will enjoy new advanced facilities to pursue performing arts, fine arts, a broader choice of physical education and sports, and of course, more room for their classical education journey.”

Earlier this year, the Pineapple Cove Classical Academies Palm Bay campus hosted education dignitaries for a tour. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for September 16 at the Pineapple Cove Classical Academy West Melbourne campus.

Community leaders, as well as Municipal, County, and State officials, are expected to be on hand to mark the next step on Pineapple Cove Classical Academy’s continuing road to success and academic excellence.

“This expansion in our West Melbourne campus is all part of our continuous improvement and inclusion strategy to provide a better choice of K-12 education for everybody,” said Moran.

“We won’t stop building classical academies, empowering teachers, and enabling each student to recognize and achieve their potential.”

The mission of Pineapple Cove Classical Academy is to develop graduates in mind and character through a classical, content-rich curriculum that emphasizes the principles of virtuous living, traditional learning, and civic responsibility. The academy is affiliated with Hillsdale College’s Barney Charter School initiative.

In addition to offering K-12 charter schools options for classical education, Pineapple Cove is also in the process of developing trade schools and a community pool and fitness center.

Florida State Representative Debbie Mayfield visited the Palm Bay and West Melbourne campuses, where she met with students, faculty, and administrators. She was impressed with how the high-achieving schools implement their classical education approach.
