BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Well, folks, another day, another person driving on the sidewalk under the influence. It still shocks me as much as we warn people not to do it, how many drivers still get behind the wheel of a vehicle when they are impaired.
Take this past Saturday when Deputy Justin Sharp was out patrolling the streets of our West Precinct and observed a truck, driven by Adarrell Harris, as it weaved off the road and up over the curb while on State Road 520.
Thankfully, once Harris saw the blue lights flashing behind him, he pulled over, and Deputy Sharp asked him for his license, registration, and insurance.
Of course, the process took a few times as Harris was so intoxicated he kept providing the wrong documentation, which, by the way, is a great indicator that he shouldn’t have been driving in the first place.
Deputy Sharp subsequently asked Harris if he would participate in the Drunk Olympics or Field Sobriety Exercises, as they are officially called; however, Harris said, “No, I’m fine.”

Well, based on what we saw with his driving, I don’t think anyone would say he was fine, so Deputy Sharp made the decision to place him under arrest for Driving Under the Influence, and Harris agreed to a free breath test.
As you might imagine, that didn’t go too well for him as he blew a 0.218 and 0.195!
Thankfully, Deputy Sharp was in the right place at the right time and got Harris out from behind the wheel and put him behind bars at “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge,” where he belongs.
Great work as always by our team, but unfortunately I know we will be talking about this again as clearly some people simply can’t comprehend the message…”Don’t Drink and Drive in Brevard County!”
