BREVARD • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Freshman goalkeeper Elias Ronning Orn from Florida Tech men’s soccer has been named the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and his career.

He was a huge reason the Panthers went 1-0-1 against Nova Southeastern and Florida Southern.

Orn was tabbed SSC Defensive Player of the Week at the end of September making this his second career SSC weekly honor.

The Randaberg, Norway native totaled 11 saves, many of which came early in the game keeping Tech alive. In the first game against Nova Southeastern, Orn tallied three almost back-to-back-to-back saves before the eight-minute mark. This allowed for the Panther offense to find their groove and take the 1-0 lead in minute 15′. He would end the game with five total saves in a 1-1 tie.

Déjà vu hit in a 2-1 victory at Florida Southern when the Mocs fired three shots on goal within a two-minute span before minute 13′. Orn made all three saves and went on to make the second-most in a single game this season with six.

The win in Lakeland over Florida Southern marked Tech’s first win at Berend Field since a 4-0 route on October 3, 2018.

Tech heads to Winter Park to play a non-conference match-up against Rollins on Wednesday, October 22, at 6 P.M. ET.
