Space Coast EDC’s Edgar Campa-Palafox Appointed to Florida Economic Development Council Board

The Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC), comprised of over 500 professionals dedicated to driving statewide economic gains and elevating Florida’s competitiveness, has named Space Coast EDC Vice President of Business Development Edgar Campa-Palafox to its Board of Directors.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC), comprised of over 500 professionals dedicated to driving statewide economic gains and elevating Florida’s competitiveness, has named Space Coast EDC Vice President of Business Development Edgar Campa-Palafox to its Board of Directors.

This distinguished appointment underscores the EDC of Florida’s Space Coast’s commitment to help advance the mission by strengthening professional capacity, empowering the business community, and expanding talent pipelines that drive statewide prosperity.

Campa-Palafox joined the EDC in August 2020 as the director of business development and is responsible for the development and implementation of a county-wide EDC Business Development program, seeking to both recruit and help existing ones to grow.

He works as a key liaison with partners and clients to market and expand economic development opportunities for the Space Coast.

Campa-Palafox’s professional experience has been centered in the economic development field, with more than 14 years of experience working with public-private, county, and municipal economic development organizations in Florida, Texas and Arizona.

During his career, he has had the opportunity to engage in almost every aspect of the profession, including economic research; incentives policy; business attraction, retention and expansion; and supplier, industrial, and entrepreneurial development.

Prior to joining the EDC team, Campa-Palafox served in different capacities in the industry, including working as Economic Development Coordinator with Alachua County, Florida; Senior Economic Development Specialist with City of El Paso, Texas; and Business Development Specialist with Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities in Tucson, Arizona.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, double major in Business Economics and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona. He also attended the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain, where he completed courses in business and economics.

Campa-Palafox holds a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC); a Master Economic Development Practitioner (MEDP) designation from the Advanced Economic Development Leadership (AEDL) program offered by a consortium of public universities (Clemson University, Texas Christian University, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of New Mexico); and a Business Incubation Management (BIM) certificate from the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA).

The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast is dedicated to attracting new business and investment and expanding existing industry throughout the Space Coast, influencing change on government laws and regulations affecting economic development, promoting the Space Coast to encourage new investment, supporting efforts of Space Coast military installations, and relaying new programs and procedures to assist manufacturing and high-tech companies.
